He remarked, "It's evident that Russia is scrambling to resume conversations immediately after it learns of cruise missiles." This statement referred to earlier musings about providing advanced weapons to the Ukrainian military.

Diplomatic Moves and Global Responses

A former American diplomat, Dan Fried, commented, "Putin is trying to disrupt the momentum toward greater sanctions on Russia." He added, "The outcome will become clear tomorrow, but the chances of moving toward a truce by pressuring Moscow to engage sincerely seem to have decreased."

This development followed Trump had recently been hardening his language toward Moscow until the recent call with Putin, which the Kremlin described as "extremely open and constructive."

EU Energy Restrictions and Market Effects

The European Union have established a requirement for fuel importers into the European Union to prove their products are not made from Russian crude, as stated in a document published on recently. This measure is included in the European Union's upcoming ban on purchases of fuels processed from Russian petroleum, which forms part of its latest restrictive measures against Moscow over its military actions in Ukraine.

Financial analysts observed that investment activity appeared to be factoring in the potential reduction of Indian purchases of Russian oil. Some Indian refiners are preparing to cut Russian oil imports, with projections of a gradual reduction, according to insiders knowledgeable about the situation.

"This represents a favorable turn for the crude oil price as it would eliminate a big buyer of Russian crude," commented a market analyst, adding that crude values were stable on the trading day.

Military Developments and Infrastructure Attacks

A massive Russian drone and rocket attack targeted energy infrastructure in eastern Ukraine on Thursday, resulting in outages in eight regions. Authorities in Ukraine reported that Russian forces launched numerous of unmanned vehicles and many of missiles, along with glide bombs.
