Approximately 55,000 homes have so far been affected by the storms, with their items and dwellings damaged.

Persistent rains over the recent period have worsened the already dire living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in the territory, according to humanitarian organizations.

"Terrible" Night Brings Grave Threats

A representative characterized the recent storm as "terrible", with downpours so heavy that as much as 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the terrain.

"These conditions was truly horrendous for the people. The heavy rains were so powerful... And the winds were so strong," stated the representative.

There is extreme anxiety that children residing in tents in wet attire will succumb to hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Deaths and Widespread Destruction

Health authorities have confirmed that one baby has passed away from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in structural failures due to the severe weather.

Further statements put a greater number of casualties. Authorities stated that multiple residential buildings had fully given way and many others had been partly destroyed.

  • Almost 55,000 families harmed by the weather.
  • More than 40 official shelters inundated.
  • Countless residents forced to find new shelter.

Aid Efforts Seen as Insufficient

Agencies have stepped up distribution of shelter, blankets and clothes since the halt in hostilities commenced, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid getting in.

"Agencies are working relentlessly to bring in that relief and to distribute it, but the scale of the necessities is so enormous that we are faced with many thousands of families and children who are truly struggling every night," cautioned one spokesperson.

Ongoing Concerns and Ceasefire Provisions

The second phase of the ceasefire encompasses arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the withdrawal of personnel, and other provisions.

Relief groups have stressed the imperative for "increased and sustained humanitarian assistance to meet immediate and long-term needs."

The conflict was triggered by an assault in the autumn of 2023. Subsequent campaigns have led to a significant number of casualties in the area, according to medical figures.
