Five days after Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica's western region with unprecedented strength, people in damaged neighborhoods by the shoreline are continuing to hope for assistance.

Officials reported on recently that no fewer than 28 individuals in Jamaica have perished after the storm struck as a devastating Category 5 hurricane with winds reaching 185 mph.

Farming Consequences

This reflects identical sentiment demonstrated by an agricultural worker, located in his transport offering remaining produce – his final agricultural products that was spared from the storm.

Regarding his agricultural land, he said: "Everything is destroyed. Complete demolition happened" But he quickly followed up with: "We need to appreciate being alive"
