Latest Refinery Attack Shows 'Zero Protected Locations in the Russian Far Hinterland'

Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have struck Russia's oil facility in the city of Ufa, situated approximately 1,400 kilometres from Ukraine, causing detonations and a fire, according to a source in Ukraine's Security Service.

This constitutes the 3rd intelligence far-reaching assault in the region in the last month. Such strikes demonstrate that there are no secure zones in the distant backlines of the Russia.

Ukrainian President Urges US President to Facilitate Ceasefire in Ukraine

Two people lost their lives in a place of worship in the town when it was targeted, according to local authorities.

In the Russian adjacent territory of Belgorod, a truck driver was killed by a Ukrainian strike, per regional authorities.

Power Restoration Efforts in the Capital

Work continued on the weekend to restore power in the Ukrainian capital, after assaults.

Power had been recovered to in excess of 800,000 residents by Saturday and the major private energy company announced the main operations to recover electricity was concluded though some outages continued.

Air Defence Efforts and UAV Jamming

The Ukrainian anti-aircraft systems downed or disrupted 54 of 78 total Russian drones launched against Ukraine overnight, the aerial defense command reported on Saturday.

The Russian defence ministry said it eliminated forty-two Ukrainian drones over the country's airspace.

Cuban Government Denies Accusations of Providing Forces to the War

Cuba on Saturday rejected American assertions it has sent military personnel to participate in the hostilities, while stating officials in Havana "lack exact information about Cuban nationals" engaged "independently" or "in the military forces of either party".

The government department in the capital stated twenty-six nationals had been convicted to jail sentences from five up to fourteen years for mercenary involvement since last September when reports spread of individuals being deployed to the frontlines in Ukraine.

Surrender Initiative Initiative Reports Details on Cuban Involvement

The surrender initiative, a Ukrainian government initiative that urges enemy combatants to surrender, reported in May: "Our information indicates the names and personal details of over a thousand Cubans who signed contracts with the Russian military in recently."

The Cuban foreign ministry said of Cubans who might be participating: "It is irrefutable that none of them have the encouragement, dedication, or approval of the Cuban authorities for their activities."

Relatives of Cubans who left for Russia in 2023 told news outlets at the time that their loved ones had been deceptively recruited through ads on social media.
