Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.

It said wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
