Grief as Popular South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.

A popular South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country struggling with persistent crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.

Officials stated the forty-year-old presenter was accosted by three suspects, one of whom opened fire on him before escaping on foot.

The purpose of the incident remains unclear and no one has been arrested are in custody, as per the official statement.

How It Happened

Police said that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a location close to the Carlton Centre.

He had spent several hours at the building overseeing the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, according to reports.

"Authorities believe the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.

Security camera video reportedly captured a man with dreadlocks and clad in what looked like a protective services outfit opening fire on Stock before running away.

The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.

It was further revealed that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the assault.

Key evidence, like cartridges, were found at the crime scene.

Appeal for Witnesses

Officials are asking eyewitnesses who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.

"We know they walked a long distance after the attack, and officers have been following their trail to determine their whereabouts," stated a police chief.

Family and Public Reaction

His family member, a close relative, expressed the loved ones are reeling to understand the tragedy.

"Words fail me. I don't have words," she said.
"Everyone understood he was a representative for countless citizens. He spoke out bravely about issues not many people were ready to discuss. This is a profound tragedy."

She appealed to the community to not sharing explicit content from the incident, noting this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's three sons.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that aired on a popular local TV network.

Beyond his media career, Stock was active in various entrepreneurial pursuits, including protective services, supplying VIP protection services and protecting prestigious gatherings across South Africa.

A cabinet official commented he was furious and grief-stricken by Stock's untimely death.

In a release, the network he worked for said Stock was known for his magnetism, warmth and quick humor, adding that his influence "will be remembered".
