Fresh Details Emerge About the Location of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains
New information has come to light about the tragic deaths of renowned director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.
The Discovery
According to a report citing a person close to the family, a therapist arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the home. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
Upon entering the home, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had gone with her contacted 911. Following this, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently being held without bail.
Correcting the Record
The person close to the family challenged several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
Additionally pushed back against circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement applies to descriptions of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Details
As stated by law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts suggested the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
