David Raya Highlights Team's Strength as Key to Multiple Trophy Ambitions
David Raya has stated that fierce rivalry for starting positions is fueling Arsenal's outstanding form, with the keeper believing that the squad's depth under Mikel Arteta is so remarkable that they can challenge for multiple honors throughout the campaign.
Stunning Victories Showcase Arsenal's Strength
The North London club's recent 4-0 triumph over Atlético Madrid marked their sixth straight victory and tenth triumph in 12 matches. With only three goals conceded—the fewest at this point in the team's legacy—they have established a one-point lead at the top of the table and a flawless start in the Champions League after three outings.
Squad Changes and Depth Crucial to Success
Raya has started in almost all matches, aside from one Carabao Cup fixture, but Arteta has consistently rotated the lineup following heavy spending on new signings. When asked about chasing multiple trophies, Raya said, "Yes, I think so. The depth is amazing. There are numerous options who can perform in multiple roles."
Like in the Atlético match, a teammate was introduced as a forward and can also play as a central midfielder or attacking midfielder. That versatility is what the boss has, and it's being utilized to our advantage. It's looking extremely promising, and that depth is very important for us.
Competition Elevates Performance
Raya continued, "This situation gives you an extra level in training and games because if you slack off, you can lose instantly. It creates intense rivalry in training and on the pitch, which is really, really important, and the whole squad accepts it."
Strong Defense a Collective Effort
The team have let in just a single goal from regular play so far, and Raya has faced only one shot on target in their recent victories against three opponents.
"Everyone contributes from the striker to the goalkeeper," Raya explained. "Each player is committed, determined not to give anything away, and the goal is to cut out passes before it reaches the midfield. If we intercept, we can launch a quick counter. This is essential for the entire team to understand that way, and we're not allowing many chances, which is ideal."
