Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup Versus the Dodgers
George Springer was instrumental for the Astros winning the championship in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their maiden Fall Classic after 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the ALCS.
Trailing three runs to one, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, guiding the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the upcoming World Series.
"I'm thrilled for this squad, our city, Canada," said Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "This is such an amazing experience."
The veteran has now connected for 23 post-season home runs, placing him third in history trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another player on planet Earth that I want up in that moment except for him with his post-season brilliance," remarked Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the early in the series, remain the sole team never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Wilson stated "certainly that it hurts" following his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but applauded their work throughout the year.
"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of the series," he remarked.
The Blue Jays claimed the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will host the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
