Wilfried Nancy insisted he had no concerns about dismissal, claiming, “I believe we are very near to things turning around,” even after sliding worryingly close to the chopping block with a heavy setback against their arch-rivals.

A Second-Half Capitulation Sees Old Firm Defeat

The home side were in front their oldest rivals at half-time but a collapse after the break enabled Danny Röhl’s team to move level on points with the defending league title holders. Nancy, who was brought in in December, has now overseen six losses in his last eight games.

“The board and I are united with the board,” insisted Nancy.

Pressed on his own future, Nancy said: “It’s not on my mind. My focus is on discovering solutions to get the team to be good on small moments.

Protest On Display

The fans made their feelings clear – directed at the board and manager – by gathering at full time. Club directors would be most likely to return to the former boss, who steered the club during a caretaker period before Nancy was hired, should a change be made.

“The outcomes [that leads to pressure]. That is the situation for the moment. Yet by saying that’s how it is, that is not a sign that I am giving up. Absolutely not. My point is the turnaround is near, extremely close to reverse our form.”

Nancy’s Persistent Belief

The coach highlights the fact his team play well for 45 minutes at a time. Indeed, but for poor finishing they would have been more than 1-0 up. “There were positives except the fact that we haven’t scored a second goal,” he said. “I know that we lost, but I must remain balanced.

“The level we had at certain moments was of top quality. That happened. I wouldn't talk like that if it was different. That is the reason, in terms of results, I said this is the same story. That’s why I said that we are nearly there to a shift in fortunes. But for the moment: small things.”

“I saw many, many good things that we did, once more. However is consistency. My message would not be if it was not the case. That’s why I firmly believe we’re going to be able to get back on track.”

The Rangers Boss Outlook

The victorious boss was cautious about a serious challenge in spite of what seemed like a statement victory. “Step by step, and we can really build up a challenge,” he said. “The belief in the squad is immense.”
